Lan Ha Bay Entrance Fee: What Hai Phong Charges, and Who Pays It

Lan Ha Bay entrance fee since 1 January 2026: 120,000 dong a day, 400,000 with one night, 600,000 with two; park and Ha Long fees; which cruises include them.

Updated November 2026

The fee for Lan Ha Bay is set by Hai Phong and collected by the Cat Ba bays management board: 120,000 dong for an adult’s day on the water, 400,000 dong with one night on board and 600,000 dong with two, less for children aged 6 and over, and nothing for children under 6. It has applied since 1 January 2026, under the city’s resolution 47/2025. You rarely pay it yourself: most cruises put it in the price. Marvel Travel’s Hanoi: 2-Day Ha Long, Lan Ha Bay 5-Star Cruise with Balcony, for one, lists “all entry fees and tickets”, from $126 a person (checked November 2026).

The calendar above is that cruise: a limousine from the Old Quarter at 8:00, check-in at Tuan Chau, the Dark and Bright Cave by kayak or bamboo boat or kayaking at Tra Bau, a seafood dinner and a night on board in a balcony cabin, and back in Hanoi at about 15:00 the next day. Taxes are included for bookings made from 26 June 2026; the bus is US$25 a person.

The Cat Ba bays management board’s posted fee table, applied from 1 January 2026 under Hai Phong People’s Council resolution 47/2025, read November 2026.

Children under 6 go free. A half-price rate for people aged 60 and over applies to Vietnamese citizens only. Operators note that the fee does not include the boat: it is the charge for being on the bays, paid on top of whatever the boat costs, and the board runs it as an e-ticket with automatic gates. The amounts are the same as under the 2024 resolution it replaced; the new resolution kept them unchanged.

Cat Ba National Park

Viet Hai village and the caves on Cat Ba are inside the national park, which charges separately under the same resolution: 160,000 dong for an adult (80,000 for a child aged 6 and over) for the park as a whole, or 120,000 dong for the route through the park centre to Trung Trang Cave. Many travel pages still quote 40,000 to 80,000 dong; those are the old figures. On a cruise that stops at Viet Hai, the price usually covers the village: Halong Dolphin Travel's day boat, for one, includes “Việt Hải village tickets”.

And Ha Long Bay’s fee

A ship from Tuan Chau starts in Ha Long Bay, which belongs to Quang Ninh and has its own fees, set by route. The Ha Long Bay board’s fee page lists 250,000 dong a person for its routes 1, 2 and 5, 200,000 for routes 3 and 4, and 500,000 to 750,000 with one or two nights. Its route 6, from the Ha Long ports through Ba Cua and Tung Lam to the edge of Lan Ha Bay, is 150,000 dong a person a day. Since 10 December 2025 a Ha Long Bay ticket needs your passport number and nationality, so the cruise will ask for them.

The routes between the two bays have run since April 2026, with tickets for the joint route sold at Tuan Chau port and Ha Long International Port. No published source says whether a passenger on a crossing cruise pays one bay’s fee or both, so ask whether your cruise price includes the bay fees.
